Paddle and Paint Series

Paddling and painting is one of my challenges this summer, sitting still and trying to capture a moment while on the paddle. I have been padding at the lake by a park. Everywhere I paddle along the shore, at a safe distance there is a different activity to capture. Usually this is early in the morning between 6 am and 8am. But there is so much life.

Birds, from Canadian Geese, to Sandwich Terns diving beak first into the glass still lake seeking out fish, Blue Jays in the bushes and Red Winged Black Birds. A young family with their toddler on the beach, a group of women chatting and having a breakfast pic nic, dogs frolicking in the water, runners, walkers. Just a medley of life, and after a paddle, I sit and capture the moment by dipping my waterbrush into the lake and spreading the travel watercolours on a homemade accordian sketch pad.

After a few weeks, all the life during these paddle sessions will be captured on one long accordian of colour and life. Stay tuned!

True to my multitasking nature, I am attempting to exercise, meditate, draw and video the process…but there are moments when I am completely still! See the process on my youtube channel: links below, and please subscribe to my youtube channel to see more!
