Paddling and Painting

Summer is here and though it may end up being a different kind of summer, I have started paddling again after a two year break! I had forgotten how meditative it was! One day to the next, the water is different. Yesterday I was on my knees trying not to be thrown into the lake and today, it’s as still as glass, with the eerie sound of a loon in the background and only a few rowers, swimmers and paddlers in the lake, I was able to bring out my mini sketch book and travel watercolour set and soak the view up through the tip of my brush.

Watercolor is a swim in the metaphysics of life… a mirror of one’s own character. Let it be unpredictable and colorful.

The feeling of this carries me through the chaotic twists and turns of the day and the memory of it calms me. Stay tuned for more paddle board sketches through out the summer!
