A Determined Young Lady

It has been a pleasure painting Willemijn from life and getting to paint her beloved Villeneuve as well. Willemijn is a very determined young lady who knew exactly what she wanted. Starting with the size of the canvas, 115cm by 75 she texted one evening and a beach scene in the background to represent the Dominican Republic. We worked on this painting for over a month, going back and forth with messages, because I really wanted

Passionate Rider

Willemijn is a passionate horse rider but unfortunately she recently lost her beloved Villeneuve at the beginning of the year. Soon after, I started painting her, and the sadness resonated.

Beloved Friend

Towards the end of the painting and after Willemijn came to our home a few times for final touches, there was a sense of pride in her expression again. I hope that is what the painting captured in the end as she stood next to her beloved friend.

Wonderful Experience

Happy that they had shared an adventure together, she was part of his happiest moments and while he is now resting, she can be proud that they shared a wonderful experience together.

Seeing how proud your lovely mum, a good friend, Cealesta was, and the tears in her eyes every time she saw the painting.
