Water Everywhere

Watercolours of a family beach day

Mandi asked me to turn a beautiful photograph to a watercolour.  The colours themselves were so vibrant, I was so excited to start with the range of watercolours I have collected over the years.

So first was the composition, perspective, set down in a quick pencil sketch on Saunders Waterford Rough watercolour paper.

Next was the Cotmans Ultramarine, Daniel Smith Cobalt Teal Blue, and Cotmans lime yellow as a wash.

Then the final touches, Daniel Smith Organic Vermillon, Popeii Red, Opera Pink and Bloodstone Genuine. Its hard to know when to stop…but sometimes you just need to, for risk of overworking an image.
